Healthy Desert: Grapefruit Brûlée

It only seems appropriate to follow up a totally health-less 
(ok, so maybe I convinced myself that the apples are healthy...)
(And isn't the saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away?)
dessert yesterday, I decided that it would be fitting to follow it with a healthful option! 

Mr. T has become obsessed with grapefruit. 
No joke, he eats them like they're going out of season. 
(I guess, technically, they are)
Then I ran across the idea of a fruit brûlée on interest the other day and thought, 
"I can do that!"
So, the grapefruit brûlée made an entrance into our household.
And a warm welcome it has received. 

Not only is this fruit tasty, but it has wonderful health benefits:
1. Cancer Killer... Actually preventer!
2. Full up of vitamin C.
3. Helps with indigestion. 
4. Boosts immune system and liver function. 

And who would ever complain about a tasty sugar layer to add some sweet to the tart
flavor of the grapefruit! 
(hint: not me)

1 grapefruit, halved and seeds removed
Brown sugar or white sugar
(whichever you prefer!)

1. Turn on broiler to high. 
2. Set halved grapefruit on a baking sheet.
3. Cover open face of the fruit with sugar (brown or white).
4. Broil sugar-faced fruit for 10 minutes or so.
5. Enjoy! 

The broiler melts the sugar layer, but it also heats the inside of the fruit
which makes the usually juicy pulp amazingly juicy!
